Late Whisper came in 3rd behind Hancock, after contending the lead for the entire duration of the race.
PRIME TV HANDICAP
( 1) HANCOCK
Track: Broadmeadow
Late Whisper came in 11th after receiving severe interference after the race start. The favourite Security was the winner.
MYALL COAST MAIDEN
( 5) SECURITY
Track: Broadmeadow
Late Whisper jumped well and settled near the front of the field. He lost a little ground near the turn and battled on to a comfortable third, behind Arena and Winsted.
Note: Arena won the Victoria Derby and Canterbury Guineas, and ran in the Melbourne Cup twice! And he beat our Noddy by just over a length. Winsted, also, has been performing very well after a move to Brisbane, where he has won several times.
MOTOROLA MAIDEN PLATE
( 1) ARENA
Track: Warwick Farm
Late Whisper slightly missed the start, from the inside barrier. He settled in near the tail of the field and ran solidly, before coming through into fourth place. He bumped Best Ascent at the 250m and just missed out on third place.
BERNBROOK HANDICAP
( 5) FRANKLIN RIVERS
Track: Kembla Grange
Late Whisper came out well from a wide barrier. Spriggs settled him in towards the back and gave him a comfortable run near the fence until they hit the straight, bringing him to the outside and bolting home in an exciting finish. He placed a magnificent second behind Sweeping View.
DIRK DEN DULK MAIDEN HCP
(16) SWEEPING VIEW
Track: Kembla Grange
Dale Spriggs did everything right, and Noddy ran like a true champion. He was eased up to the back of the field, then Spriggs made his break at exactly the right point down the straight. He bolted along to overtake the leaders, winning comfortably in class record time from Pasta Express.
Note: Pasta Express, following this defeat, went on to win his next four races, including a five length win over 2800m. In his last start that preparation he came an incredible second in the Summer Cup after having suffered a broken foot in the early stages of the event. He is now a dual Group 2 winner, Group 1 placed in the Metropolitan at Randwick, and ran eighth in the 2000 Melbourne Cup.
THIRROUL MAIDEN PLATE
(10) LATE WHISPER
Track: Randwick Inner Track
Spriggs got back a bit too far in the field and had to bring Noddy to the front on the inside. The horse was distracted and inexperienced, and although he came home well he just managed to clinch fifth place. Improvement will definitely be seen when Noddy begins to race in blinkers.
** Zatella was disqualified for returning a positive test to a banned substance. Noddy was promoted to fourth place.
HIH INSURANCE HANDICAP
( 9) ZATELLA
Track: Rosehill Gardens
Noddy jumped out very well, almost over-eager in his new blinkers. With nowhere to look but straight ahead he kept his mind on the job, and raced in an unfamiliar position near the lead. He held his ground right down the straight, fighting off a challenge from Crestfallen. He was taken on by Rubitoff near the line, who proved too strong on the day, beating Noddy by just a neck. All credit to Danny Beasley on a magnificent ride, and we all look forward to welcoming Noddy back in the new year.
HAHN PREMIUM LIGHT HANDICAP
( 4) RUBITOFF
Track: Kembla Grange
Noddy jumped out well and was soon on terms with the leaders. Bowman got him into a perfect position midfield, just off the fence. Upon hitting the straight, Noddy launched into his customary style of coming from behind and hitting the lead, but once he got past the leader Bowman had to use the whip to ensure he stayed there. He was just too good for them though, and hung on to win smartly from the outsider Herarde. He will gain much benefit from the run, as he was still a little inexperienced.
CLEARY BROS CLASS 2 HCP
( 1) LATE WHISPER
Track: Broadmeadow
Noddy jumped out well and settled midfield. He relaxed well in comparison to his last start, so well that Bowman became worried. He started to move Noddy forward before he hit the straight, and he quickly hit the lead. Like last time, he had no idea of what to do once he was out in front, but his ability saw him through and he plugged away for another exciting win. He will definitely win some nice races when he gets his chance.
NCP CLASS 3 HCP
( 3) LATE WHISPER
Track: Randwick
Noddy jumped on terms with the field. He wanted to go a little hard, and it took Bowman a while to get him settled. Just as he started to quieten down, the horse in front of him fell and he had to jump the rider. This fired him up and he began to race quite fiercely. Once he hit the straight he had to make do with an inside run, which he didn't like. He ran a disappointing eighth, perhaps because he was too fresh to run out the distance.
FAIRLIGHT HANDICAP
( 8) CHANDRU
Track: Randwick
Two horses, including the favourite Masonry, were scratched at the barrier. Noddy jumped out well and settled midfield. He relaxed well, and Bowman got him into a nice position near the lead and off the rails. He came to the outside just before the straight to make a run, however Noddy couldn't catch the leaders, and plugged away okay into third place. He is probably looking for more distance now.
VICTORINOX CLASS 4 HANDICAP
( 3) WOLFCLOUD
Track: Kembla Grange
Noddy turned in another solid performance today. Robinson dropped him right back in the field, probably too far back. He settled very well, but was not in a good position once they hit the straight, and was forced to go between horses which he does not like. He plugged away and caught up to the leader with not enough distance left, and finished a half length away from the 50 to 1 shot.
REMEMBERANCE CLASS 3 HANDICAP
(12) PROUD DECISION
Track: Rosehill
After jumping well, Bowman had Noddy three wide and near the leaders, instead of dropping to the rear of the field. He was still wanting to pull quite hard. He did not like racing so close to the lead, and once he hit the straight, Noddy tired and ran a very uncharacteristic last. He will be backed up at Hawkesbury on the 2nd of December, where he will hopefully show his true ability once again.
SAFILO CLASS 5 SUPERFECTA
( 9) TREASURY
Track: Hawkesbury
Quinn rode Noddy exactly to instructions today. He got him to the rear of the field, although he was still pulling very hard, despite gear changes including the replacement of blinkers with pacifiers and a lugging bit. Upon rounding the corner for home Quinn thought he was on the winner, but Noddy didn't quite have enough left in him after Saturday's run. He plugged away for an honest fourth placing. It is clear that Noddy must be ridden quietly in his races and given a chance to sprint down the outside.
DAD & DAVES CLASS 3 HANDICAP
( 9) COLLEGE PARK
Track: Kembla Grange
Rixon was instructed to ride Noddy quietly today, and to give him a chance to work home down the outside. He jumped out well from barrier three and was able to settle in fifth place on the fence. Noddy didn't pull hard or try any of his old tricks today. Rixon attempted to force Leura Express out when rounding the turn for home, which resulted in Noddy being bumped around momentarily. Normally such an action would encourage Noddy to give up, but today he wasn't giving in. He was able to finally get off the fence with about 300 metres to go, and motored his way between horses - something he always hated - to take the lead just in time. His class saw him hold out the fast finishing Leura Express, for what was probably his most impressive win to date, given the fact that so much went against him. Following the race, Rixon suggested he would definitely make an excellent 2400 metre horse.
MEGA MEATS MILLENNIUM CUP
( 1) LATE WHISPER
Track: Warwick Farm
Noddy jumped right back to the tail of the field upon jumping, and was tailed off 2 or 3 lengths with another horse. It took some time before he tagged on. Rixon began his run as he rounded the turn, and it looked as though Noddy would produce his usual powerful finishing burst. However, he started to flag halfway down the straight, and although he could have run on to finish closer Rixon stopped riding him. There was a bias on the track that day which made it very difficult for any horse to run on from behind, so personally I would take no notice of the run. However, Noddy didn't pull up as well as he normally does after the race, and so it was decided to give him a month and a half in the spelling paddock, which will do him the world of good. Hopefully he will come back a stronger horse, and be able to finally show us what he can do over 2000 metres.
R&T SUPERFECTA
( 7) SUPERIOR HAND
Track: Rosehill
A nice first-up effort. Noddy began one of his big runs down the outside once hitting the straight, but he hit a brick wall at about the 150 metre mark, and hung on for 7th. If he had been fitter, it would have been an exciting finish.
KENBAY WEST CLASS 4
( 5) ASTROLINK
Track: Warwick Farm
An honest run from Noddy, where he ran into a bit of trouble in the straight, copping a nasty check. Rixon took an inside run where an outside one would have been far better, and Noddy ended up sixth. He will now be set for a provincial series at Newcastle, which culminates with a $30,000 final on Gold Cup weekend.
BANJO PATERSON E&G HCP
( 1) SCRIVEN
Track: Warwick Farm
A similar run to last start, finishing in sixth place again. Noddy shows a dislike for this course.

( 3) CHIVAS 'N' REGAL
Track: Broadmeadow
Noddy raced near the lead due to a track bias on the day, tactics which were questioned by the stewards. He finished a commendable fourth.

Another good run from a poor ride. Noddy came from last to finish in fourth place. He was later promoted to third place after the disqualification of Stranger.

Noddy travelled at the rear of the group of 14 for the duration of the race, making good ground in a late run into fourth place. With a jockey on board he may have won!
